Mabel Jacobson, 92, Halstad, MN passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Halstad Living Center, in Halstad.

Mabel (Orvik) Jacobson was born in Dummer, Saskatchewan on May 19, 1928 to Syvert and Thora (Brodland) Orvik. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Dummer, where the family attended Bethesda Lutheran Church. After high school Mabel attended Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Saskatchewan. She worked several years in a grocery store for her sister Jennie in Regina, Saskatchewan. Mabel also taught Sunday school and did visitations with families from the church.

While visiting Tennie and Lottie Orvik and other relatives in Shelly, Minnesota, Mabel met Morris Jacobson in June of 1958. Morris and Mabel were married on November 29, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Shelly. Together they had two sons, Marvin and Marlow. Marvin passed away on November 20, 1986.

In earlier years, Mabel was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Shelly, where she was a longtime faithful custodian, she also loved to visit at the Halstad Living Center and volunteer her time. She enjoyed embroidering dish towels, cooking, baking, and giving out her baked goods while visiting with friends.

Mabel is survived by her son, Marlow Jacobson (Michele Miller), and grandson, Jasper, Mentor, MN; step-grandson, Zach Holweger, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Mabel is preceded in death by parents, Syvert and Thora Orvik; husband, Morris Jacobson; son, Marvin Jacobson; and siblings, Sally, Johnny, Alice, Olaf, Selmer, Thelma, Oscar, Lewis, Jennie, and Hilda.

Funeral : 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, with a maximum capacity of 50 in attendance.  All must wear a mask to attend.

Visitation : One hour before the funeral at the funeral home in Ada.

Interment : Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Good Hope Township, rural Shelly, Minnesota.
