Mabel Christensen, age 86 of Twin Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Ulen and Babbitt, Minnesota, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Twin Valley Living Center.
Mabel J. Gregerson was born October 1, 1925, the daughter of Obert and Anna (Wiger) Gregerson in Hitterdal, Minnesota. She was raised in the Ulen area and graduated from the Ulen High School with the class of 1943. Following graduation Mabel was united in marriage to Ronald Christensen. Together they had one daughter, Marilyn. The family made their home in the Ulen-Flom, Minnesota area for several years before moving to the Iron Range.
In 1956, Ronald and Mabel moved to Babbitt, Minnesota where Ronald worked in the mines. He died at a young age in 1974, but Mabel remained in Babbitt. Due to declining health, she moved in April of 2010 into the Twin Valley Living Center, where she resided until her death.
Over the years, Mabel enjoyed traveling and reading. Along the way she also formed numerous lifelong relationships with many near and dear friends.
Surviving Mabel is her daughter, Marilyn and husband, Craig Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Michele and her husband, Lyle Jaixen and Heather and her husband, Scott Wilson all of Omaha; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ione Tobin of Twin Valley, MN; nieces and nephews and longtime friends.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen. Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral. Officiating was Pastor Steve Dahl with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Steve Lunde serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Keith Gregerson, George Wells, Lyle Jaixen, Julie Gregerson, Sharon Rehder, Stephanie Gall and Scott Wilson.
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Ulen.
