Martha Patricia "Patsy" Horack, age 85 of Ogema, MN, died Monday, September 21, 2015, at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Patsy was born July 23, 1930, the daughter of Pat and Martha (Toczek) Chromy. She grew up in the Waubun area and graduated from Waubun High School with the class of 1948. On September 1, 1949, Patsy was united in marriage to James Horack at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun. The couple made their home together in Waubun. In the spring of 1952, the family moved to California where Jim worked in the oil fields until returning to Waubun that fall. In 1955, Patsy and Jim purchased Alvin Angnstman's home and school bus route in Ogema. In addition to her role as a loving mom and wife, she also worked in the school cafeteria, Larson's Hardware Store and helped Jim with the school bus route. Whether it was working, helping at the church or with the kids' activities, Patsy was one to keep busy. She was a very active member of the VFW Auxiliary, holding offices at the local, district, state and national level. In 1979-80, Patsy was the Minnesota State Auxiliary President and in 1982 was the National Poppy Chair. She was also active in the National Catholic Society of Foresters and volunteered at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema. During her spare time, Patsy enjoyed golfing and traveling, visiting many states while being active with the VFW Auxiliary.

Patsy is survived by a son, Alan of Ogema; three daughters: Jeanne (Jim) Nelson of Sun Lakes, AZ, JoAnn (John) Solie of Brooklyn Center, MN, and Becky (Jim) Peter of New Hope, MN; four grandchildren: Erin (Kyle) Hosker, Alyssa (Nick) Hanzlik, Kyle( fiancé, Katie) Solie and Matt (Amanda) Rousu; six great-grandchildren: Jacob, Allison and Ezekial Rousu, Aiden and Evelyn Hosker, and Parker Solie; siblings: John (Donna) Chromy, Judy (Dale) Lufall and Sandy Frare all from Washington State; sister-in-law, Bernice Horack of Waubun, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents; Pat and Martha Chromy and her son-in-law, Tim Rousu.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 10 am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, with Father Joseph Hitpas, OMI officiating. Special music will be provided by Gary Gunstinson and Bruce Engebretson will be the organist. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Nelson, Jim Peter, John Solie, Kyle Solie, Kyle Hosker, Matt Rousu and Nick Hanzlik. Visitation will be held Friday, September 25 th from 5-7 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery,Ogema,MN.
