Obituary

Dwain Ness, 89, Ada, MN, died Friday, November 2, 2018 at Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Dwain was born October 17, 1929 on his family's farm west of Ada, MN to Lloyd and Neva (Gibbons) Ness. He graduated from Ada High School in 1947.  Dwain was united in marriage to Wilma (Punky) Johnson on November 4, 1950 at First Methodist Church in Ada.

Dwain and Punky were parents to five children; four boys and one girl. Dwain was a life-long farmer.  His farming career involved livestock, sugar beets and grain.  He was a staunch supporter of local school, church and community.  He served on the Sunday School staff and was active in men's brotherhood and other church boards.  He taught Bethel Bible Series at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada in '63 & '64.  Dwain served on the Ada Co-op Board, the PCA Board and with the Red River Valley Sugar Beet Growers Association.  He was Northwest Minnesota Sq. Dance President and he held various positions with the Ada Quarterback Club.

Dwain's journey with Parkinson's began in 2004. In 2013, he and Punky moved to Mission Court in Ada and in 2016, they moved to Halstad Living Center.  Dwain left this earth to be with the Lord on Friday, November 2, 2018 while under the quality care of the staff at the Halstad Living Center and Hospice.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 68 years, Punky; sons Mark (Nancy) of Eden Prairie, MN, Michael (Wendy) of Ada, MN, Luther (Claudia) of Walla Walla, WA, Bradley (Kelly) of Brookings, SD; daughter Stephanie (Dean) Knutson, of Ada, MN; 7 grandchildren, Amy Ness (Sam Brant), Andrew (Jessica) Ness, Anthony (Laurie) Ness, Sarah (Steven) Todd, Joshua Ness, Jordan (Janet) Ness and Ryan Knutson; 6 great grandchildren; sister Geri (Paul) Opsahl and brother Marlin (Lois) Ness. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don & Leslie Ness, sister Lucille Lake, foster son Arvid Skuza, grandson A.J. Knutson, nephews Marlin Lake, Kirk Ness, and Lee Ness, niece Marilee Purrington, grandnephew Mark Morerud, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity or charity of your choice.

Funeral: 10:30AM Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with 6:30PM prayer service at the church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
