M. Kathryn (Sundet) Larson of Gary and Eagan, Minnesota died on March 1, 2015.

Kathryn was born February 26, 1922 in Gary, Minnesota, to Peter and Martha (Degerness) Sundet. She graduated from Gary High School and attended Beauticians College in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She married her high school sweetheart, Sherman Larson, on June 26, 1943. They returned to Gary, began farming and raised their four children; Virginia of Eagan, Patricia of Federal Way Washington, Mark of Moorhead and Kristi of Bemidji. Sherman and Kathryn farmed in Norman County until 1975 and were dedicated to the animals and the crops on their diversified farm. They continued to live on their farm in Waukon Township until 2009 when they moved to an assisted living apartment in Burnsville, Minnesota. Kathryn lived in her apartment after Sherman's death until last year and has since been cared for by her daughter, Virginia.

Kathryn's favorite pastimes were flower and vegetable gardening, quilting and sewing, the art of Norwegian embroidery (Hardanger), cooking, baking and everything involved in making a home for her family. She was skilled at driving a tractor, making a wonderful meal; always with dessert, playing a great hand of cards and a competitive game of Scrabble. She continued to enjoy good eyesight, was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She especially enjoyed family, foods and traditions of her heritage, traveling and trips to Norway to spend time with relatives living there. She dealt with losing Sherman, aging with grace and was sweet and kind to her last day. Kathryn was a lifelong member of Sundal Lutheran Church.

Kathryn is survived by Virginia Kirgiss and her three children: Reid (Jami) Kirgiss, Renae Marsteiner and Rochelle Kirgiss (Dave Feist); Patricia Roragen and her two children, Veronica and Patrick(Loretta) Roragen; Mark (Kristin) and his two children, Taidge and Sarah Larson and Kristi (Tom) Reise and their two children, Kathryn Reise (Josh Faecke) and Mitchell Reise; great-grandchildren: Roarke Roragen and Melanie and Noah Marsteiner; sisters-in law: Grace Ginn of Santa Rosa, California, Bernice Sundet of Twin Valley, Minnesota, Lilly King of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Gladys Sundet of Farmington, Minnesota, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family friend, Steven Lee. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman C. Larson; parents; brothers: Allan, John, James, Phillip; sisters, Allene and Margaret and son-in-law, Eldon Kirgiss.

A celebration of Kathryn's life was held at Sundal Lutheran Church of Fertile, Minnesota at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, officiated by Pastor Bill Beyer. Lunch was served following the service for a time of sharing and remembrances.
