Lyle Wallace Tronnes, 84, Halstad, MN, died Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Lyle was born June 30, 1929 at home in rural Nielsville, MN, to John and Carrie (Lee) Tronnes. He attended District 17 School and was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nielsville. He assisted on the family farm until he joined the Marines Corps in February 1952. He served during the Korean War conflict, earning the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the National Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty February 1954 and received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps Reserves in February 1960. He moved to Silver Bay, MN, in April 1956 where he worked for the Reserve Mining Company for 27 years. He was an active member of Sychar Lutheran Church. Following his retirement he moved to Ada, MN. He moved to Halstad in 2006. He was a member of The American Legion Hubbard Post, St. Petri Lutheran Church, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Shelly Senior Citizen Center.


Lyle is survived by one sister, Irene Berry, Shelly, MN, one brother, Gene (Rosemary) Tronnes, Bloomington, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Irvet, Terry and Francis, and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Berry.

Funeral Service: 11:00AM Tuesday, October, 8, 2013, at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nielsville, MN, with the Rev. Valerian Ahles, presiding.

Visitation: Monday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 7:00PM prayer service at the Heritage House, Halstad, MN.

Burial: St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, rural Nielsville, MN.
