Lyle Dennis Fingalson, 79, of Ada, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Palliative Care in Fargo, with his wife and four daughters by his side.
Lyle was born on April 17, 1932 on a farm in Richwood Township, Detroit Lakes, MN to Glenn and Dorthea (Mikkelson) Fingalson. Following his graduation at Detroit Lakes High School in 1951, he worked for various farmers until February 1953 when he was drafted into the Army. Lyle served in the U.S. Army until February 1955.
On August 23, 1959 he married Marie Erickson at Richwood Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. They were married for 52 years.
For 36 years, Lyle worked for John Deere Dealerships in Detroit Lakes, Hawley, Ada, Grand Forks and Hunter as a parts and sales manager. Throughout his retirement, he worked during the summer months for Norman county.
While he enjoyed camping, playing games with his grandchildren and collecting John Deere memorabilia, his favorite time was when his family was all together.
Surviving are his wife, Marie (Erickson) Fingalson, Ada, his four daughters, Debra (Trygve) Olson, Ephrata, PA; Shari (Keith) Johnson, East Grand Forks, MN; Kristi (Curt) Lovold, Monticello, MN; Vicki (Jeffrey) Madison, Duluth, MN; nine grandchildren, Kirsten, Emily and Lukas Olson; Kaley, Ryan and Allison Johnson; Hannah and Kevin Lovold; and Benjamin Madison; brother, Carl (Jan) Fingalson and many other dear relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Dorthea Fingalson, a sister, Jean Fingalson, and a son-in-law, Mel Olson.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 11 am in the Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 5-7 pm in the Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.
Burial will be in the Richwood Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN.
