Lucille Mary Gish, 85, died at the Mahnomen Assisted Living Center on February 2, 2018. Lucille Mary (Andring) Gish was born May 7, 1932, daughter of Raymond and Gertrude (Martin) Andring, on the family farm in Waukon Township, Norman County, MN. As a young child, she attended the Cheerful Country School through eighth grade. Lucille then attended Mahnomen High School and graduated with the class of 1950. On February 24, 1952 Lucille was united in marriage to Raymond E. Gish at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mahnomen. They lived in California for a short while as Ray was serving with the United States Marine Corp. They then moved to Minneapolis where their first child, Debra, was born. Soon after that, they moved back to Mahnomen where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lucille and Ray loved camping and spent many years with their children and friends at Vagabond Village, Breeze, and Elkhorn resorts. Her husband, Raymond, passed away in 1996. Lucille was active in her church, First Lutheran Church. She attended Lutheran Women's Groups, taught Thursday School, and served with ladies' aid and service groups. She was president of the Mahnomen County Hospital Auxiliary and spearheaded the community calendar for many years. She was past long-term president and member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America for many years. Lucille was a member of the Mahnomen Library Club, Red Hat Society, and area Bridge and Birthday Clubs. In 2006, she received the Mahnomen Library Club Golden Deeds Award. She was known to most as Lucille but for all of her 85 years, she was lovingly referred to as "Dede" by her Andring family. Lucille was a kind, loving, and giving person, setting a wonderful example for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Lucille is survived by three sons, Ricky of Litchfield, MN, Robert of Rosemount, MN, and Kevin (Mary) of Bemidji, MN; two daughters, Debra Lewis of Detroit Lakes, MN and Nancy (Mitch) Fiedler of Rice, MN; grandchildren: Jodi and husband Brent Roy, Deanna Gish, Amy and husband Tony Wagner, Lindsi Gish and husband Don Ball, Matthew Gish and Taylor Gish: great-grandchildren Bailee, Maddison, Landon and Lexi; two brothers, Leonard (Joanne) of Moorhead, MN and Richard (Darleen) of Gary, MN; two sisters, Claire Cook of White Bear Lake, MN, and Beverly (Virgil) Amsden of St. Paul, MN; sisters-in-law; Doreen Andring of Lakeville, MN, and Vera Gish of Alexandria, MN; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; infant son, Larry; grand-daughter, Sonya; brothers: Arnold, Vernon, William and David; and sisters, Helen Lindberg and Mary Moore.
