Obituary

Lowell Walz, age 69, of Lake Park, MN, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Sunnyside Care Center in rural Lake Park, MN.

Lowell Norbert was born December 19, 1946, in Mahnomen, MN, the son of Lanwald "Lindy" and Dorothy (Schouviller) Walz. He grew up on the family farm near Beaulieu, MN, and graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1964. Lowell was united in marriage to Donna Foltz and together they had four children: Steve, Paul, Scott and Julie. He entered the workforce shortly after graduation and over the years his entrepreneurial skills took him to several different places. Lowell spent time not only in Minnesota, but also Denver, CO, San Diego, CA, and the US Virgin Islands. An aneurysm forced Lowell to retire and he made his home with his son, Paul, in St. Thomas for several years. In 2009, he returned to Minnesota and has made his home at Sunnyside Care Center since then. An outdoorsman, Lowell enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing these activities with his children. In his younger years, he had his pilot's license and made many trips back to Minnesota from Colorado. Lowell also enjoyed golfing and woodworking. He will be remembered by his great sense of humor and ability to crack jokes and make people laugh.

Lowell is survived by three sons: Steve of Detroit Lakes, MN, Paul of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and Scott (Tiffiny) of Audubon; one daughter, Julie (Dan) Neenan of Cary, IL; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers: Rick (Rhonda) of Mahnomen, Randy of Panora, IA, Keith (Sarah) of Knoxville, IA, and Dale (Kristene) of Windsor Heights, IA; three sisters: Doris (Victor) Eiynck of Mahnomen, Debra Lunde also of Mahnomen, and Sandy (Mark) Amberg of Waubun, MN; aunts and uncle: Rosemary Walz and Lillian Winter, both of Moorhead, MN, and Betty (Ed) Schneider of Sauke Centre, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
