Lorraine Taylor, 88, of Halstad, MN, died on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN. Marvel Lorraine was born on March 8, 1922, to John and Hilda (Anderson) Benson at Hillsboro, ND, where she grew up and graduated from high school.
On December 15, 1944, Lorraine was united in marriage to Ervin Taylor at Ada, MN. They lived in Blanchard and Hillsboro, ND, before settling in Nielsville, MN in 1957. Lorraine worked for Michael Swanson Potato Farmer as a potato grader until 1977. She then worked for Spokely Farms as a potato grader until 2005. Over the years, she also did housekeeping for area families. Ervin died in 2000. Lorraine entered in the Halstad Living Center on June 15, 2005.
Lorraine loved birds. She read about birds, and always maintained bird feeders around her yard. Lorraine was an excellent cook and enjoyed crafts. She volunteered as "helping hands" while at the nursing home, which kept her very busy.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Mike (fiancée, Jean), Halstad, MN; grandsons, Jeremiah, East Grand Forks, ND and Shawn, Grand Forks, ND; four great-grandchildren, Christian, Aaron, Alex, and Jayden; one brother, Burnette Benson, Sutter, CA, and one sister, Helen Gronemyer, Portland, OR; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ervin, one grandson, Michael Jr, one brother, James, and four sisters: an infant, Eleanor Benson, Myrtle Mills, Nina Jarvis and Esther Johnson.
Funeral services will be in the St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nielsville, MN at 11 am on Thursday, September 9, 2010.
Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.
Burial will be in the St Rose of Lima Cemetery, Hillsboro, ND.
