Lorraine D. Aronson, 92, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2014 at the Halstad Living Center in Halstad, MN.
Lorraine Delores Wang was born on the farm near Grandin, in Traill County, ND on August 14, 1922, to William and Martha (Melting) Wang. She was the oldest of seven children. Lorraine graduated from Halstad High School in 1940 and was united in marriage to Maurice Aronson on June 13, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN. Lorraine and Maurice lived on the family farm where she was a homemaker also working at the Halstad Bakery. Lorraine was active in several ladies groups of Immanuel Lutheran Church including teaching Sunday school. She volunteered many years at the Halstad Living Center, taking pride in fixing the residents hair and always joking with them.
Lorraine created many memories as a very special mom and fun loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a special aunt and much loved by all her nieces and nephews including Shannon and Darrin Wang of Waldorf, Maryland. Shannon and Darrin always looked forward to trips to the Aronson farm. Lorraine also had a special connection to Maurice's Swedish cousin, Karl-Erik (Monica) Aronson and family. She enjoyed being a host mother to Magnus and Thomas Aronson while attending high school in Halstad.
Lorraine is survived by a sister, Winnie Reque, Red Wood Falls, MN; brothers, Wayne (Betty) Wang, Fairfax Station, VA, Roger (Catie) Wang, Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Viola Paulsrud, Halstad, Cle Wang, Minnetonka, MN, and Phyllis Chisholm, LaPlata, MD, grandchildren, Chris Aronson (Jolene Nelson), Halstad, Tami (Zafer) Aronson-Haddad, Fargo, ND, Emily Aronson, Grand Forks, ND, Tim (Renae) Aronson, West Fargo, ND, Cassie Aronson, Hendrum, MN, Kate Knutson, Grand Forks, ND, Jackie Hoss, LaHabre, CA and great-grandchildren, Anthony Aronson, Nayeli Pruneda, Jace and Cullen Aronson and Zac Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Martha Wang, Maurice's parents, John and Alma Aronson, her husband Maurice Aronson, brothers Neal Wang and Bucky "William" Wang, sister, Doris Lockwood and her sons, Gaylon and Monte Aronson.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the staff of the Halstad Living Center for their care and love and for making Lorraine feel at home there for the past seven years. Also to Maysie Aronson-Aarestad for being a special caregiver and granddaughter, Cassie for being her special C.N.A.at the Halstad Living Center.
The family requests that memorials be given to either Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum or the Halstad Living Center.
Visitation will be held at Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home in Halstad on Sunday, December 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a celebration of Lorraine's life at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum on Monday December 8th starting at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hendrum, MN.
