Lorna Mahle, age 90, of Ada, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Lorna Bak was born May 12, 1919, the daughter of Ole and Ida (Garden) Bak in Strand Township, Minnesota, where she was raised and attended country school. On November 8, 1952, Lorna was united in marriage to Herman Mahle at Fertile, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Gary, Minnesota until their retirement in the late 1970's. At that time they sold their farm and moved into Ada. Herman died April 8, 1988. Lorna had continued to live in Ada until the time of her death.
While living in the Gary community, the couple was active in the St. Petri Lutheran Church. Lorna was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Her favorite past times included gardening and being outdoors, but she especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with her friends and family.
Lorna is survived by a son, David Mahle of Ada, MN; a brother, Robert Bak of McIntosh, MN; a sister, Sybil Oakland of Fertile, MN and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Burt, Silas and Herbert and two sisters, Gloria and Ruth.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009, at 11:00 AM in Grace Lutheran Church, Ada. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Monday. Officiating will be Pastor Don Walker with Kris Wilkins serving as organist and Tricia Thompson as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Doug Fugleberg, Dave Oakland, Steve Fugleberg, Gene Oakland, David Motteberg and Leon Johnson.
Burial will take place in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary, Minnesota.
