Lorence Schneidermann, age 89, of Ulen, MN, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Lorence was born in Lyon County, IA, on December 29, 1930 to the parents of Harm and Tillie (Baumann) Schneidermann. When he was 4 years old, he moved with his family to a farm northeast of Ulen, MN, where he grew up. He attended District 46 Country School through the 8th grade. As a young man, he began farming with his dad until he entered the Army in 1952. While in the United States Army, he served in Korea for nearly a year. While in Korea, he served with the 7 th Infantry Division Headquarter Company. Before his discharge, he was awarded several medals and badges, including the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze Service Stars and the Bronze Star with a V for valor. After his honorable discharge, he attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School. He later resumed farming with his family. Over the years, Lorence and his brothers operated Schneidermann Brothers farm. They had both a farming operation and were well known for the fat cattle feed lot which they ran for over 40 years. While farming, he was a member of the NFO.
Lorence loved to travel, whether it was driving around locally looking at the fields, visiting several states and Germany. He enjoyed going to the Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag for many years. Later in life, he found pleasure in going out to eat, often in Moorhead. In the last year, Lorence had made his home in Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Lorence is survived by his sister, Hilda Schneidermann; and two brothers, Walter (Mary Ann) Schneidermann and Arthur Schneidermann; five nephews; five nieces; numerous great nephews and great nieces; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister; five brothers; and two nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley, MN. Burial will take place on the family lot in Walworth Baptist Cemetery in the spring of 2021.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Oak Crossing and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their excellent care and communication during this past year. They would also like to thank Anderson Family Funeral Home for their thoughtful service during a difficult time and to Curt and Jennifer at the Clay County Veterans Service Office for their helpful assistance.
