Lois Syverson, age 79, of Ulen, MN died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.

Lois Theone Stene, daughter of Lewis and Lillie (Slette) Stene, was born on October 21, 1934 at home in Norman County, MN. She grew up near Faith, MN where she attended country school and later graduated from Twin Valley High School. On June 8, 1952, Lois was united in marriage to Myron Klemetson and the couple made their first home on his family home near Ulen. They lived in Moorhead for a time while Myron was in the service then returned to the Ulen area. Lois kept busy on the farm while raising their five children. She was active in her children's interests, always enthusiastically cheering the wrestlers and leading the campfire girls. As a nervous mother, she also kept a close watch at curfew for her babies to come home. Lois was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served on the circle there for many years. Following Myron's death on December 8, 1989, Lois moved into the Ulen community. She worked as a waitress in both Ulen and Hitterdal, MN. On November 20, 2000, Lois married Lyle Syverson and she gained a wonderful step family. They shared 10 wonderful years together. Lyle passed away on August, 19, 2010, and shortly thereafter she moved into the Northern Lights apartments in Ulen. Lois loved to visit with all of her neighbors and friends. She never forgot a birthday and was famous for sending greeting cards for every occasion. Over the years, she was also a very active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5115. Lois liked to garden and loved to mow and care for her yard. She treasured her grandchildren and made precious memories with each of them. Her loving tender spirit will be missed by all.

Lois is survived by five children: Dean (Diane) Klemetson of Hitterdal, Dave (Sherry) Klemetson of Sabin, MN, Dan (Shari) Klemetson of Lake Park, MN, Darrell (Pamela) Klemetson of Ulen, and Diane (Larry) Blakeway of Hawley, MN; step children: Kim (Lisa) Syverson of Ulen, Vicki (Mark) Haugen of Hawley, MN and Julie Ashmore of Denver, CO; 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Myron Klemetson and Lyle Syverson; a brother, Lowell; a sister, Marion and two infant children.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen. Visitation was on Thursday, December 26th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Officiating was Pastor Mike Rueckert special music provided by Carol Lockhart and Susan Green and Steve Lunde serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Amy Gulseth, Andrew Yarbrough, Jarod Yarbrough, Trisha Eggert, Leslie Braseth, Erin Braseth, Dana Klemetson, Brandt Klemetson, Blayne Klemetson, Heather Klemetson and Chelsea Klemetson.

Interment was in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
