Lois Brandon, age 80, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Mahnomen and Twin Valley, MN, died on Monday, April 13, 2015, at her home.
Lois Faye Lazzaro was born October 18, 1934, in Nashwauk, MN, the youngest child of Ignatius and Myrtle (Leitch) Lazzaro. She grew up and attended school in Nashwauk. Following high school, Lois attended Business College in Minneapolis, MN. On February 19, 1955, Lois was united in marriage to Bernard Brandon at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Nashwauk.
Barney and Lois made their home in many different communities but always considered Mahnomen their home. Together they owned and operated the So and Sew Shoppe for 10+ years. Lois was always active in the community through various facets like the church, city council, and boosters. She was a proud and loud supporter of Mahnomen athletics.
Upon retirement, Lois and Barney moved to Balsam Township and eventually wintered in Arizona. Eastgate Community in Mesa, AZ became their permanent residence. Lois continued to be active as long as her health permitted.
Lois is survived by her husband of 60 years, Barney, Mesa, AZ; three sons: Robert (Cathryn) Brandon, Maple Grove, MN, Bernard Brandon Jr., Albuquerque, NM and William (Rachel) Brandon, Gilbert, AZ; two daughters, Paula (Tim) Stevenhagen, Akron, OH, and Susan Schoenborn, Mahnomen; Sisters-in-law, Janet Brandon of Grand Rapids, MN, and Cleola Hengstebeck of Chapalo, MX, 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen. Time of Gathering will be held one hour prior to Mass.
