Lloyd Thompson was born April 12, 1922, the son of Ole and Emma (Aanenson) Thompson in Anthony Township, near Ada. He grew up there and attended rural school. Lloyd was baptized and confirmed his faith at East Marsh River Church near his home. As a young man, he worked for area farmers. They made their first home in the Halstad, Minnesota area, later returning to Twin Valley. They first purchased a farm west of Twin Valley, which they operated until 1952, when they relocated to a farm northwest of Twin Valley. Together, Lloyd and Josie owned, operated and lived on the farm until 1992 when they moved into Ada to make their home. Lloyd became a resident of Bridges Care Community in 2005, and had lived there since. Josie passed away on August 10, 2007.

Lloyd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. He enjoyed reading and playing cards. In his younger years, Lloyd took great pride in his horses and farmed with them for many years. He especially liked to visit with all of his friends and neighbors.
