Lloyd Donald Spielman, age 95, of Twin Valley, MN, died on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.

Lloyd Donald, the son of Henry and Anna (Gieseke) Spielman, was born in Flom Township on July 19, 1924.  Lloyd graduated from Twin Valley High school in 1942.  On October 14, 1945 Lloyd married Ruth Schroeder. They lived on their farmstead until moving to Viking Manor Assisted Living in 2016.

Lloyd raised Registered Herefords, enjoyed working with animals and was active in the MN Hereford Association. The farm innovated and grew to meet the changes in agriculture.   A seed cleaning plant was developed in the 1970's to custom clean for the neighbors and process certified seed which he sold along with the Dekalb seed line.  He actively helped with the farm work until age 90.

Lloyd became a lay preacher, first at the White Earth Native American mission, and later he led services at the nursing homes in Twin Valley and supplied for area churches. Lloyd was a member of Minnesota Crop Improvement Assoc., St. Olaf and Ness Lutheran Churches and the Gideon's.  He also served on the Flom Township Board for many years.  Lloyd loved to work with wood creating monster trucks, doll beds, folding tables large and small, and other creations which were given away or sold with profits donated to the Gideons.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruth; four children:  James, Louise (James) Stromberg, Paul (Dilene), Mark (Jenifer), and daughter-in-law, Marjorie; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren: and many nieces and nephews.  Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Anna; his sister and brother-in-law, Mona (Carl) Holm: and a brother, Lowell who died in childhood.
