Lloyd M. Nelson, 84, of Ada, Minnesota, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Bridges Medical Services, Ada.
Lloyd was born on December 11, 1925, on a farm near Lockhart, MN, the oldest child of Edwin and Louise (Halstad) Nelson. He attended Wilson Country School through 8th grade and also completed three winter Semesters at Crookston (MN) Agricultural College.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Rozella Wagner, on September 18, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada. Lloyd farmed with his father in Good Hope Township until 1957, when he purchased the farm of his father-in-law, Emil Wagner, where they lived and farmed until their retirement in March of 1990.
The family enjoyed many joyful summers at their lake cabin on South Twin Lake with family and friends. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish in Ada, serving as trustee, parish council member, lector and other volunteer roles. Lloyd was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 54 years; first as a 3rd degree Knight, and in 1981, a 4th degree Knight. One of Lloyd's proudest moments was seeing all four of his sons become 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Pleasant View Township board.
Since retirement, Lloyd and Rozella have traveled with family throughout the United States. Lloyd enjoyed golf, playing cards, trips to the casino, and spending time with family and friends, including the annual family "Nelson Norsk Fest."
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Rozella, Ada, MN, his children, Patty D. (Raymond) Kukowski, Pequot Lakes, MN, Larry C. (Loretta) Nelson, Ada, MN, Judy K. (Bruce) Hoover, Fargo, ND, Doug L. (Sue) Nelson, Ada, MN, Bonnie C. Lee, Halstad, MN, Don E.(Susan) Nelson, Fargo, ND, Gary N. (Amy) Nelson, Ada, MN, and Mary L. Nelson, Moorhead, MN, one sister, Arlyne Hess, Ada, MN, 21 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Louise; infant daughter, Constance; one granddaughter, Angela Hoover and one great-grandson, Isaiah Bitz.
