Obituary

Lloyd Earl Bunker, age 86, Naytahwaush, MN died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Innovis Health Systems, Fargo, ND.

Lloyd was born November 4, 1921 to Nelson and Flora (Brown) Bunker in Naytahwaush. He grew up attending school in Naytahwaush. Following his schooling, Lloyd worked for a few years before enlisting in the United States Army. He served during WWII and was honorably discharged on June 25, 1943. After his discharge, Lloyd returned to Naytahwaush to make his home. He then moved to Alaska for a time, eventually coming back to Naytahwaush. In the late 1950's, Lloyd and his brother, Ralph, began working on Ore boats for Wilson Shipping on the Great Lakes. He retired in the late 1980's, and continued to reside in Naytahwaush.

Lloyd enjoyed the different seasons and the activities they brought forth. In the winter, it was snowmobiling, fishing and decorating for Christmas and in the spring and summer it was ricing, fishing and tending to his large and plentiful vegetable and flower gardens. Throughout the year, Lloyd kept busy playing cards, dominoes and going to the casino. He also loved to visit with family and friends –they could always count on his good memory, his baked beans at any family function and the sight of him wearing his cowboy hat. Lloyd held a membership with the Naytahwaush Nightriders Sno Club.

Lloyd is survived by his brother, Nelson (Darlene) Bunker of Ocean Shores, WA; two sisters, Corrine Roe of Linwood, WA and Phyllis Turpin of Naytahwaush and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ralph.
