Linda Raina Ek was born on September 2, 1950, to John and Violet (Annis) Orre, in Ada, Minnesota. She grew up in Gary, MN, and attended Gary Public School.

Linda was united in marriage to Ronald Ek on November 1, 1967, in Sisseton, SD.  They settled near Gary, MN.  Together they welcomed six children. Linda dedicated her life to her family.  Over those years, Linda was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time at home raising her children. She also took work babysitting for her nieces.  Linda worked in the kitchen at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.  She took great pride in her work and earned an Employee of the month award.

Linda and Ron moved into Fertile, MN where they raised their granddaughter, Caitlynn and Sheldon finished school.  Linda enjoyed raising Caitlynn and babysitting all of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, having backyard BBQ's, listening to music and playing various yard games, especially kick ball or baseball.  Cooking and card games were her passion.  There were many late nights of Whist games, but her absolute favorite card game was Solitaire.  She taught her kids how to cook and later enjoyed discussing different recipes with them.

Upon their retirement years Linda and Ron moved to rural McIntosh and lived adjacent to their son, Kevin (Tanya).  They enjoyed country living again where Linda helped watch their kids (Isabella and Samuel) while they were at work.  Ron kept busy with lawn mowing and gardening.

Linda's failing health brought her and Ron back to Fertile, where they moved into Northwest Apartments near her daughter Amber's (Dean) home.  Together, Amber and Hospice took excellent care of Linda and made her feel as comfortable as possible.

Linda is survived by her husband, Ronald; children, Jamie Ek, Moorhead, MN, Amber (Dean) Olson, Fertile, MN, Justin Ek, Audubon, MN, Kevin (Tanya) Ek, Thief River Falls, MN, and Sheldon Ek, Thief River Falls, MN; her mother, Violet Orre, Ada, MN, 9 grandchildren; and siblings, Jerry (Lisa) Orre, Fertile, MN, Mark Orre, Park Rapids, MN, Carolyn (Wayne) Stundahl, Twin Valley, MN, Kathy (Gary) Sorenson, Fargo, ND, and Vicki (James) Gunufson, Fertile, MN. Linda was preceded in death by her father, John; brother, James Orre; and son, Timothy Ek.

Funeral: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All are encouraged to wear a mask.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
