Obituary

Mrs. Linda Lou Counsell (née Hintzman) of Climax, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Essentia Hospital in Fosston, Minnesota, on May 25, 2025, at the age of 83.

Linda was born on March 4, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Mahlon Alvin "Curly" Hintzman and Flora Loine "Lou" Hintzman. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1960 and went on to attend Upper Iowa University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. An accomplished artist specializing in acrylics and watercolors, Linda, along with her husband Dan, owned and operated fishing and hunting resorts in the Pennington, Minnesota area during the 1990's and 2000's. She was a witty and generous individual who deeply loved her family and friends. Linda had a passion for cooking, wine, and crosswords—though not necessarily in that order.

Linda is survived by her husband, Daniel Counsell, of Climax, Minnesota; her daughter, Julie Vermillion (Ronald) of Charlestown, Indiana; her son, Anthony Volpe (Heather Tronnes) of Crookston, Minnesota; her stepdaughter, Tina Rohwedder of Rockford, Iowa; and her stepson, Travis Counsell of Rockford, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle Peterson (Megan), Bryn Vermillion (Jayson), Tara Wust (Derik), Taven Counsell, Treven Counsell, and Taz Counsell, and several great-grandchildren. Linda's sister, Diane Guinn (Tom), resides in Green Valley, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mahlon Alvin "Curly" Hintzman and Flora Loine "Lou" Hintzman.

Linda's family will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Counsell Homestead, located at 304 Centennial Street, Climax, Minnesota. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Linda's life.
