Lillie C. Jensen, age 99, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Monday, January 04, 2010, in MeritCare Health System, Fargo, North Dakota.
Lillie Christine Prestegord was born May 5, 1910, the daughter of Ole and Bertha (Olson) Prestegord on a farm east of Twin Valley. She was baptized and confirmed her faith at Wild Rice Lutheran Church. As a youngster, Lillie attended Plentywood country school and later, Twin Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1929. After her graduation, Lillie worked as a nanny while living in St. Paul, Minnesota for a time, before returning to her parent's farm where she helped them with various aspects of farming. On October 16, 1943, Lillie was united in marriage to James "Ed" Jensen at the Wild Rice Parsonage near Twin Valley. The couple made their home on a farm just east of the Wild Rice Church where they farmed for many years. In 1960, they relocated back to her parent's farm. Ed died July 14, 1982. At that time Lillie went to live with her daughter in Iowa for a few months. In the spring of 1983, Lillie moved into the Johnson apartments in Twin Valley where she lived until moving into the Lincoln Terrace apartments in June of 2007. She became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in October of 2008, where she lived until the time of her death.
Lillie was a lifetime member of Wild Rice Lutheran Church where she held offices and taught Sunday school for several years. Lillie had a love for tending flowers and in her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and the fellowship she found with her friends at church.
Lillie is survived by a daughter, Linda (Rich) Ringerud of Princeton, MN and a son, Larry (MaryAnn) Jensen of Fayetteville, NC; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed, a brother, Lawrence and two sisters, Alice and Bernice.
Funeral Services was held on Friday, January 8th, 2010, at 2:00 PM in Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley. Visitation was Thursday, January 7th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation was also be one hour before services at the church on Friday. Officiating was Pastor Chad Peterson with ---- serving as organist. Special music was provided by Rhonda Navratli, Rosie Codner and Renae Nepper. Pallbearers were Don Jensen, Dan Buckle, Curtis Kragero, Bill Nepper, Doug Navratli and Amos Laport.
Burial was in the Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery, rural Twin Valley.
