Lillian Shaide, 90, Ada, MN, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Bridges Care Community, Ada, MN.

Lillian Normanda Myers was born on October 6, 1921, the daughter of Norman and Lena (Holte) Myers, at her grandmother's family farm near Ulen, MN. Lil was the oldest of 9 children so she learned to change diapers, cook and clean to help her mother with her younger sisters and brothers. She finished 8th grade and went to work for a neighbor when she wasn't helping her mom.

Lillian was united in marriage to Winfred Shaide on November 23, 1940, in Borup, MN. They made their home in Richmond, Va., where they worked on a farm for two years. They then moved back to Borup, MN, where they farmed. In April of 1947, they started Shaide Oil Company in Borup. While in Borup, Lil worked as a secretary/receptionist for Cities Service Oil Company, Gulf Oil and also the Co-op. She also owned and operated a fabric shop in Borup for a few years called "The Stitch Witch."

Lil's biggest joy was when she purchased a knitting machine. She made beautiful dresses, coats and hats for herself and her children. She also made her children Christmas stockings with their names on them. She earned extra money sewing and patching clothes for people in the surrounding communities. Lil was the first treasurer of the Village of Borup when it was incorporated. She held the position for 40 years sitting at all of the elections and writing checks for the city of Borup. She was also the president of her Helping Hand Club which raised money to purchase band uniforms, donated to build the Fire Hall and even purchase fire trucks. Lil was a member of Winchester Lutheran Church and held the office of Ladies Aid President. She liked playing golf and won many trophies playing in the ladies tournaments around the area. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

Lillian is survived by a son: Gordon (Kay) Shaide, Cleveland, OH, a daughter: Kyle (Donald) Blada, Rapid City, SD; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers: Roger (Carol) Myers, Borup, MN, Carl (Janelle) Myers, Bloomington, MN, 2 sisters: Ida Tyler, Moorhead, MN, Donna Hoverman, TX, one sister-in-law: Margaret Myers, Moorhead, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Winfred, daughter, Valerie Olson, great grandson, Aaron Mattison, great grandson, Alex Shaide, and brothers: Floyd, Harold, LeRoy, and Frank.

Funeral: Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 3:00pm, in Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN.

Visitation: Friday, March 30th from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.

Funeral: Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 3:00pm, in Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN.

Visitation: Friday, March 30th from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
