Lillian Marcella Voit was born on the farm in Beaulieu Township on January 1, 1925, to George and Anna (Rehm) Voit.  Upon finishing the 8 th grade at country school, she helped on the farm with the daily chores.  In addition, she also worked as a housekeeper for a few families in the Waubun area.  On July 31, 1945, Lillian was united in marriage to Melvin Haider.  The young couple made their home in Mahnomen and started a family.  In 1952, with a growing family, they moved to the farm southeast of Mahnomen.  Melvin and Lillian would spend the next 35 years on the farm where they would raise their family of two boys and four girls.  After Melvin's retirement, they moved back to Mahnomen in 1987 and have made their loving home together in the house they currently own.

Lillian enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and reading.  She spent countless hours crocheting, sewing and making quilts.  Over the years, some of her favorite past times were dancing and playing cards.  Lillian was very strong in her faith which was evident in her day to day living.  She was a member of the Homemakers Group and the Beaulieu Christian Mothers.  In her younger years, she was a member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu until 1987 when they became members of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen.

Lillian is survived by her husband of nearly 74 years, Melvin, of Mahnomen; two sons, Jim (Bonita) Haider of Perham, MN, and Steve (Kathy) Haider of Mahnomen; four daughters: Marion Schaaf of Billings, MT, Theresa (Iver "JR") Dahl of Park River, ND, JoAnn (David Rongstad) Paulson of Shevlin, MN, and Rosemary Haider of Eagan, MN; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Voit and Luella Voit, both of Mahnomen; in laws on Melvin's side; and many nieces and nephews.
