Obituary

Lillian Matilda (Bulau) Ellingson, 99, of Ada, MN, died on Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Twin Valley Living Center,

Twin Valley, MN, surrounded by family and just shy of her 100th. She was born on August 19, 1916, on a farm near Gary, MN, to Gustav and Mary (John) Bulau. She attended country schools in that community.
On January 20, 1946,

Lillian was united in marriage to Johnny Ellingson at St. John's Lutheran Church, Green Meadow Township, rural Ada. Lillian and Johnny made their home in Ada, where they raised their two daughters: Jacquelyn and Ellyn. She worked as a grocery clerk for LB Hartz stores in Fertile and Ada for many years. Lillian made her career as a CNA at the John Wimmer Nursing Home for 20 years; she took pride being a CNA, caring for friends and family. Lillian was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 50 years; she was active at Zion Lutheran Church in the Women's Groups and as a church quilter, having fun and making quilts for charities.

Lillian is survived by her son-in-law, William Arends, six grandchildren: Lori Rasmusson, Greg (Wendy) Anderson, Julie Anderson, Nikki Arends, Lisa (Mike) Wolf, and Bill (Mandy) Arends; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny, parents: Gustav and Mary, daughters: Ellyn and Jacquelyn, sisters: Selma, Frieda, Anna and Emma, and her two brothers: Albert and Ervin.

Memorial service- Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 11 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation- One hour before the service in the church.

Burial- Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.

Memorials preferred to the Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
