LeRoy Ivancich, age 97, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
LeRoy Pete Ivancich was born November 30, 1921, the son of Pete and Eva (Turckovic) Ivancich in San Pablo, California, where he grew up. After graduating from high school, LeRoy was employed at the Oakland Ship Yard during WWII building Liberty Ships. In 1952, LeRoy was united in marriage to Hazel Larson in San Pablo. The couple moved to Ukiah, California, where he was a dam tender for the Army Corp of Engineers for over 20 years. LeRoy retired in 1978 and he and Hazel remained in Redwood Valley, California until moving to Twin Valley in 2003.
LeRoy's favorite past times included, dancing at the senior center, reading and in his younger years, fishing. He also greatly enjoyed being outside doing yard work and taking long walk. He was a proud member of the National Association of Federal Retirees. LeRoy will be remembered as a thoughtful, sharing and giving person.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Hazel of Twin Valley, MN; a step-daughter, Shirley Incerti of Fertile and a step-grandson, Dan (Joan) Incerti.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bertram and Theadore.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 10:30 AM in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley. Officiating will be Fr. Joe DeCrans with Dan Incerti serving as urnbearer.
Inurnment will be in the Twin Valley City Cemetery.
