Obituary

LeRoy Aanenson, 77, of Gary, MN died Monday, November 4, 2013 at his residence.

LeRoy Edwin Aanenson, son of Oscar and Ida (Boe) Aanenson, was born on February 5, 1936 in Anthony Township, west of Ada, MN. At a young age, LeRoy's father died but his mother soon remarried and LeRoy was lovingly raised by his mother and step father, Berdien Thompson. In 1954, he moved with his family to a farm south of Gary. LeRoy worked on the family farm and also helped area farmers over the years. He enjoyed both grain farming and working with dairy cattle. LeRoy made his home on the family farm for nearly 60 years.

LeRoy truly loved animals and had a special place in his heart for cats. He often went for four wheeler rides and enjoyed working in the woods. Every Thursday, LeRoy could be found heading into Gary to get groceries and talk with the folks at the C-store. Although he was a very private person and led a quiet life, LeRoy could spend hours visiting with his family.

He is survived by two brothers, Lloyd (Hazel) Thompson and Dennis (LaVonne) Thompson, both of Twin Valley; one sister, Shirley (Johnny L.) Moe of Gary; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Inez Holm and Donna Thompson; and one brother, Morris.

A Private Family Graveside Service was held at Gary Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary.
