Leonard Bush, age 83, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Leonard Irving Bush was born April 26, 1934, in White Earth, MN, the son of Andrew and Margaret (Mitchell) Bush. He attended school in Naytahwaush before enlisting in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Leonard returned to the Naytahwaush area. He was united in marriage to Louise Ann Loons in 1960 and together they had six children. The couple later divorced and Leonard remained in Naytahwaush. Over the years, he worked in the woods and other manual labor jobs.

Leonard truly enjoyed being in the outdoors. He liked working around his yard, watching the birds and planting trees. When indoors, Leonard enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his cats. He was lucky enough to get to know and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leonard also enjoyed visiting with friends and traveling to see them. His personality lent itself to one of teasing and joking and he will be sadly missed by many.

Leonard is survived by two daughters, Debbie Bush, Bagley, MN, and Sandra Paul, White Earth, MN; four sons: Joseph Bush, Bagley, MN, Gary Bush, Naytahwaush, MN, Terry Bush, Akeley, MN, and Jerry Bush, Mahnomen, MN; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Rose) Bush, Mahnomen, MN, and Merle (Ginny) Bush, Naytahwaush, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Irene Brown, Leona Sehlstrom and Delores Bush; and one brother, Melvin Bush.


Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from 12 Noon until 2 pm at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 pm at Free Gospel Alliance Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
