Obituary

Leland Larson, age 83, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Bridges Care Community in Ada, Minnesota.

Leland was born April 14, 1926 the son of Edwin and Valborg (Hanson) Larson in rural Norman County, Minnesota. He was raised in Norman County where he attended country school and later Twin Valley High School. Following high school, Leland helped his parents on the farm until enlisting with the United States Army. He served from October of 1945 until December of 1946 and spent time in Leghorn, Italy. After an honorable discharge, Leland returned to Norman County and continued farming with this father. Together they harvested small grains and raised cattle. Leland would eventually take over the family farm upon his father's retirement. Leland retired in the late 1980's and moved to Bridges Care Community in Ada in February of 2008.

Over the years, Leland enjoyed traveling and visited most of the United States and the Canadian provinces. He was also an avid reader and loved to share stories with others. Leland was a lifelong member of Wild Rice Lutheran Church.
Surviving Leland are one nephew, Douglas Larson and his wife, Valerie of Seattle, Washington; two nieces, Dana Lough and her husband, Mike also of Seattle and Katherine Larson of Spanoway, Washington; three great nieces: Holly, Heather and Carlie. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glenn Larson.

Funeral Services for Leland was held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2 pm at Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley. Visitation were held one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday. Officiating was Pastor Chad Peterson with Carol Johnson serving as organist and Mark Habedank serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Ernie saeland, Robert Svobodny, Charles Braaten, Doug Larson and David Paul. Military honors were provided by the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion.

Burial was in Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery, rural Twin Valley.
