Leland P.
Aanenson
Dec 13, 1930 — Jul 7, 2022
Backus
Leland P. Aanenson, age 91, of Backus, MN, formerly of Twin Valley, MN, died on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Twin Valley Assisted Living in Twin Valley.
Leland Palmer Aanenson, the son of Agnes Pippin, was born on December 13, 1930 in Ada, MN. Leland was raised in Halstad, MN, by his grandparents and attended a small county school until he began helping on his family and neighbors' farms. Leland married the love of his life, Linda Anderson, on June 23, 1963. The couple made their home in Twin Valley and were blessed with a daughter, LeAnne. Leland and Linda spent their time farming, raising animals, and caring for their home. Leland enjoyed going to auctions to buy machinery, after which, he'd go home to tinker and fix it and then sell it. He could fix anything and built all his own tractors. The couple enjoyed gardening together, raising beautiful gardens full of vegetables and flowers. They would harvest their produce to be sold at farmer's markets. They also spent hours canning and freezing goods to be enjoyed in the winter months. The couple moved to Backus in 2012 where they lived for 10 years. After Linda passed in 2021, Leland moved to the Twin Valley Assisted Living Center where he spent time with many old friends and family.
Time spent with friends and family was very precious to Leland. His granddaughters spent summers on the farm, traveling to actions with the flatbed truck to bring home Leland and Linda's new treasures. The couple enjoyed playing cards, especially "Abort" at social gatherings. With his laid-back and quiet demeaner, Leland will always be a hero to his loved ones and will be greatly missed.
Leland is survived by his daughter, LeAnne (Ben) Pollock; two grandchildren, Tessa (Jeff) Kriesel and Tara (Joe) Stang; six (soon to be 7) great-grandchildren; brothers, Wallace (Janice) Flyberg and Allen Pippin; one sister, Carol Kuehn; and a sister-in-law, Margo Flyberg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; mother, Agnes; and brothers, Carl Pippin Jr., Donald Flyberg, and Larry Flyberg.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley.
