LaVonne Lillian Purrington, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the morning of Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Benedictine Care Community in Ada, Minnesota.

LaVonne was born in Green Meadow Township, Norman County, Minnesota on May 19, 1934, to Raymond and Lillian (Andersen) Minnie. She was baptized into the Christian faith at First Lutheran Church in Ada, Minnesota and confirmed at Gary Lutheran Church.  LaVonne grew up in Gary, Minnesota and graduated from Gary High School in 1952, where she was active and became lifelong friends with many. As a teenager, LaVonne met her future husband Wayne at a 4-H event, and they were later married on June 28, 1952 at Gary Lutheran Church. They lived in Halstad, Minnesota where they began raising their family of five boys, who were LaVonne's pride and joy to her final day. They moved to the family farm near Ada in 1966, where she helped with numerous farm tasks while preparing daily meals for her family and hired help. LaVonne moved into Ada in 1997 following the unexpected death of Wayne.

LaVonne's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings. LaVonne was a phenomenal cook and always served homemade bars or cookies for anyone who stopped by for a visit. She radiated warmth and compassion toward animals, with a special fondness for dogs. She enjoyed dancing with Wayne, and they belonged to a square-dancing group along with close friends. LaVonne was a devoted member of her church community, actively participating in the ladies aid at East Marsh River Lutheran Church in Anthony, MN. Later, she continued her faith journey by transferring her membership to Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. Over the years, she cultivated many meaningful friendships and found joy in the time shared with those dear to her.

LaVonne is survived by her sons, Steve (Valerie) Purrington of Hibbing, MN, Virgil (Jane) Purrington of Ada, MN, Bruce (Susan) Purrington of Halstad, MN, Nathan (Sherry) Purrington of Ada, MN and Stewart (Connie) Purrington of Twin Valley, MN; grandchildren, Patrick (Kristen) Purrington, Matthew (Teresa) Purrington, Ben (Stacy) Purrington, Katie (Andrew) Tritz, Brian (Meleena) Kruschke, Jessica Swan, Lauren Purrington, Megan (Matthew) Aalgaard, Tyler Purrington, Amber Purrington, Evan Purrington, Kayla (Nate) Bence, Heidi (Greg) Haglund, and Alissa Purrington; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Jacob, Dylan, Logan, Brandon, Dylon, Hannah, Tyler, Jaxson, MaKenzie, Jaden, Londyn, Tila, Caleb, Carter, Kendall, Maddie, Hallie, Laila, Rowan, Matilda, and Dayton; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lillian; husband, Wayne; daughter-in-law, Marilee Purrington; brother and sister-in-law, David and MaryAnn Minnie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
