Laurena Amundson, age 91, of Waubun, MN, died Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Laurena Harriet Brehm was born December 16, 1928, in Waubun, the youngest child of William and Anna (Goranson) Brehm.  She grew up in the Waubun area and graduated from Waubun High School with the class of 1947.  Following high school, Laurena attended business college in Fargo where she studied accounting and business.  On September 2, 1952, Laurena was united in marriage to Palmer Amundson Jr. in Minneapolis, MN.  The young couple made their home in the Twin Cities where she worked as a bookkeeper for a trucking company.  In 1962, Palmer and Laurena moved to her family's farm near Waubun and helped with the day to day farming operations.  Laurena also worked as a bookkeeper for Chippewa Ranch, east of Mahnomen, then the ASCS Office, followed by many years at the Mahnomen Public School.  After retiring and selling the farm, Palmer and Laurena moved to their home on McCraney Lake.  They spent 20+ wonderful years at the lake making precious memories with family and friends.  In 2000, they sold the cabin and spent a year in Colorado and a short time in Fargo before settling back in Waubun.  In January of 2013, their son, Michael, passed away and less then a month later, Palmer, passed away.  Laurena continued to live in their home in Waubun until the Fall of 2016 when she moved to an assisted living complex in Fargo.

Laurena enjoyed sewing, baking, playing cards, Bingo and the occasional trip to the slot machines.  She and Palmer traveled all over and visited some remarkable places including, China, Germany and Hawaii to name a few.  Closer to home, Laurena loved to entertain and host gatherings of family and friends whenever she could.  Family was always a priority and she cherished the time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren.  Laurena was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid and the women's weekly bible study.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Laurena is survived by two sons, Mark (LoAnn), Fargo, and Morris "Dude", Arthur, ND; two daughters, Becky Radi, and Brenda (Todd) Gross, both of Fargo; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Amundson, of Virginia, MN; sister-in-law, Peg Kirby, of Winsted, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Palmer; son, Michael; eight brothers: George, Howard, Clarence, Frank, John, Gordon, Elmer and Lawrence; and three sisters: Eva, Gertrude and Edith.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waubun, MN.  Visitation will take place one-hour prior to the service at the church.
