Laurel A. Lee, 95, Ada, MN, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.
Laurel was born on September 21, 1919, in Lockhart, MN, the daughter of Bryant and Helen (Malakowsky) Jackson. She was baptized at the Beltrami (MN) Methodist Church. Laurel attended grade school in Lockhart before graduating from Ada High School. She later attended secretarial college in Des Moines Iowa. She worked for some time at the Halstad Bakery. Laurel was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee on March 2, 1940, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Ada. They farmed near Ada for many years and were members of Concordia Lutheran Church, before she joined Faith United Church, in Ada in 1988.
Laurel enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, and furniture refinishing. She spent many hours quilting and sewing. She loved traveling to many locations including South Padre Island, California, the Passion Play at Eureka Springs in Missouri, Winnipeg, Iowa, Oak Ridge, TN, and family reunions at Lake Alma, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Laurel is survived by her children: Lance Lee, West Fargo, ND; Bryant (Caroline) Lee, Sidney, MT; Karen (Roger) Skugrud, Winona, MN; Michael Lee, Erskine, MN; Warren (Sharon) Lee, Moorhead, MN; Kevin (Janis) Lee and Candace (Steve) Osborn, both of Ada, her brothers, Sidney (Emily) Jackson, Ada, Eugene Jackson, Fruita, CO, 11 grandchildren, 11great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, sisters, Joyce Walle, Marjorie King, Helen Docken, and June Wear, brothers, James and Jon, and an infant Bryant, a daughter-in-law Ardis Lee, and grandchild Tracy Booth.
Funeral: 2:30pm, Friday, July 17, 2015, at Faith United Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN
