Krissy was born November 2, 1952 in Fargo, ND to Bob and Carolyn Nygaard. Her difficult delivery caused developmental disabilities. Her early years were spent with her family in Fisher, MN. Because of the volume of care she needed she was eventually cared for at Lake Park Wild Rice Children's Home, Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center, Elbow Lake Group Home and most recently the FIR Home in Fergus Falls. Krissy enjoyed many years of attending the DAC in Hoffman, MN and this past year attended the Willow's day program in Fergus Falls.

Krissy was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Even though she was non-verbal during her life on earth, we have a secure hope that she is now in heaven enjoying many good visits with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Some of Krissy's favorite things to do were rock on a porch swing or in a chair, have coffee with her friends, go for a ride in the car, attend church and other events. Krissy also enjoyed her colorful collection of socks and had fun changing them often!

Kris (as her dad called her) had a real talent for dribbling a basketball and bouncing it back-and-forth with her caregivers. If God has a basketball team, Kris is surely on it.

Krissy physically had a fairly healthy life, but on January 30, 2020, was diagnosed with cancer. On January 31, 2020 the Lord saw fit to end her suffering and take her home.

Kristine's family includes all the special housemates, caregivers, social workers and staff throughout her life who have loved her SO much; siblings, John (Connie) Nygaard, Ocala FL, Paul Nygaard, Waubun MN, and Julie Olek, Moorhead MN; nephews, Aaron (Jacqui) Nygaard, Portland OR, and Jarrett Olek, Moorhead MN; great-nephew, Oscar Nygaard, Portland OR; and niece, Bridgette Olek, (Moorhead).

Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents who loved her dearly.

On behalf of Kristine, her family would like to thank all of you who have dedicated your lives to the care of disabled and vulnerable adults and children. Yours is TRULY a special calling and God Bless You for answering that call!

Visitation : Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home Ada, MN.
