Kenneth Dean Visser, 78, passed peacefully and surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, under the care of Hospice at Bethany Retirement Living on University in Fargo, ND.
Kenny was born on May 16, 1947, to Kenneth and Margaret Visser in Crookston, MN. The first of three children, Kenny was the apple of Margaret's eye for the first five years of his life. In Kenny's youth, he enjoyed anything that had to do with animals and being outdoors. He played football and ran track, graduating from Ada High School in May 1965.
Kenny graduated from NDSU in May 1969 earning a double major in Agricultural Economy and Animal Science. While there, he was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity, and active in the Saddle & Sirloin Club. He was also a proud member of the Army National Guard from 1970-1976.
On July 18, 1971, Kenny married the love of his life, Wanda Floan from Fertile, MN. Their honeymoon consisted of a few days on a tri-county vacation, then it was right back to the farm for wheat harvest. Their union welcomed four sons: Scott Clayton, Jared Dean, Geoffrey Alan, and Kurtis Kenneth. Kenny chose every single one of his children's names.
Kenny had a life-long love of farming and of land in general. He could be found driving the countryside daily, looking at the fields, crops and livestock. He especially loved the land east of Twin Valley that overlooks the Wild Rice River valley, often commenting to Wanda about how he could see that pasture full of black Angus cattle. He also had a strong drive to serve his community. Kenny was a member of the McDonaldsville Township board, Faith United Church Assembly, and Norman County Farm Bureau Association.
In later years, Kenny enjoyed spending time with his friends at AGSCO and Ada Feed and Seed for coffee and dice hour in the morning, some exercise at the Dekko Community Center, and driving around and visiting. He loved spending time with his grandsons, Taylor, Natan and Krystian. He would get right on the floor and play tractors, cars, trains, or whatever else the boys wanted to do. He was the best jungle gym until the boys grew too large to climb all over Papa Kenny safely.
Kenny is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Wanda, sons Scott Visser (Emily Van Hart), Jared (Roxanne) Visser, Geoff (Kasia) Visser, and Kurtis Visser; grandsons Taylor (Kayla) Visser, Natan Visser, and Krystian Visser; great granddaughters Elouise Visser and Evelyn Visser; siblings Clay (Luanne) Visser and Beth (Stan) Wolf, brothers-in-law Wayne (Karen) Floan and Brian (Pam) Floan and sister-in-law Brenda (Steve) Johnson. Kenny is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret Visser, in-laws Wesley and Betty Floan, brother-in-law Bertrum Floan, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
