Obituary

Kenneth (Kenny) Stene, 63, of Ada, MN, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

He was born on March 2, 1947, at Ada to Ernest and Ruth (Eastvold) Stene. Kenny was baptized at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Borup, MN, and later confirmed at East Marsh River Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, MN. In 1965, Kenny graduated from the Ada High School, and continued his education at North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, graduating with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He served in the Army Reserve from 1968-1974.

In 1968, Kenny began farming and raising cattle, which he loved very much. On April 11, 1975, he was united in marriage to Delane Thompson of Halstad, at Halstad Lutheran Church. They lived in rural Halstad until 1983, when they moved to Ada. Kenny worked as a milk tester for MN DHIA from 1983 to 2001, and loved getting to know area milk producers. In 2001, he began driving truck for DG of Ada, Foltz of Detroit Lakes, MN, KDN of rural Halstad, and Jerry Nelson of Hillsboro, ND. Kenny was a man of wisdom. He loved to spend time at the lake fishing and visiting with friends and family. His grandson, Luke, was the light of his eye. Spending time caring for his cattle and working the soil while farming gave Kenny purpose and fulfillment. As an active member of East Marsh Free Lutheran Church, Kenny contributed much to the care and direction of the church fellowship. His steady faith and confidence in Jesus was alive and evident until his passing.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Delane, Ada; son: Aaron, Ada and daughter, Emily (Jake) Woltjer, and their son, Luke Woltjer, Mooreton, ND; brother, Roger (Sandy), Ada; sister, Sandy (Otto) Bertsch, Hillsboro, ND; brothers-in-law: Lowell (LuAnn) Thompson, and Ronald Thompson, both of Ada; sisters-in-law: Janice Leppala, Virginia, MN; uncle and aunts: Margorie (Ken) Scott, Inver Grove Heights, MN; and Truman and Bette Eastvold, Borup, MN; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
