Obituary

Kenneth J. Pergl, age 61, of Mahnomen, MN, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at his home.

Kenneth was born April 12, 1950 to James and Delora (Wille) Pergl in Mahnomen. He was raised near Mahnomen and attended school there. As a young man he entered the United States Army and spent most of his service time in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge he returned to Mahnomen. Kenneth began working for the City of Mahnomen in the street/maintenance department where he later became the supervisor. He worked for the city until his retirement. Kenneth married Debra Steckley on May 13, 1972 in Mahnomen. They made their home in Mahnomen, where Kenny continued to live after Debra's death in 2003.

When Kenny was younger he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to watch western movies and could often be found working in his yard. He was also a longtime member of the Mahnomen American Legion Isaacson-Bjorge Post #31.


Kenneth is survived by a son, Cory, Lake Park, MN; two brothers, Dave of Mahnomen, MN and Steve of Hillsboro, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Janice; and two brothers, James and Jack.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:30 am at Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 5-7 pm with a 6 pm prayer service also at Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen.

Interment will be at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Mahnomen, MN.
