Kenneth Kaster, age 67 of Mahnomen, MN, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, MN.
Kenneth was born December 17, 1941 in Mahnomen, MN the son of Bernard and Martha (Tschida) Kaster. He was raised on the family farm east of Mahnomen. Ken was baptized and confirmed at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, near his home, and had remained a lifetime member there. As a young man, he farmed with his father and later took over the farm. Ken continued to operate the farm with the help of his brothers until this fall.
Ken enjoyed farming in every way. He was up early in the mornings and worked late doing the job he loved. Ken also loved the Christmas season and spending time with family.
Ken is survived by his mother, Martha of Mahnomen; one sister, Audrey (Jack) Frank of Shoreview, MN; six brothers: Gene and Mike both of Mahnomen, Richard (Greta) of Prescott, AZ, Bernard Jr. of Erskine, MN, Ray (Eileen) of Fertile, MN and Donald (Nancy) of Bloomington, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters: Dorine and Marilyn, and one nephew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu, MN. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm until 5:00pm with a prayer service starting at 4:00pm at the Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.
Fr. Rick Lambert will officiate. Brenda Sorensen will play the piano with Carol Liebl and Mary Ann Brisbois singing. Pallbearers will be Donald Elfering, Gerald Paulson, Dan McNamee, David McNamee, Albert Luecken and James Luecken. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Beaulieu, MN
