Kenneth “Ken” Aspinwall, age 55, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Kenneth Lee Aspinwall, the son of Terry VanOsdel and George Aspinwall, was born on February 19, 1971, in Robbinsdale, MN. He was raised in the Twin Cities, where he attended school and built many lifelong friendships. As a young man, Ken furthered his education at Minnesota Community College in carpentry. He met Sabrina Young, and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Raya, and spent many wonderful years together before later going their separate ways. Ken worked numerous jobs while living in the Twin Cities. Never shying away from hard work to provide for his family. In July of 2001, Ken married his longtime friend, Virgina Briggs in Minneapolis, MN. Together their blended family grew and became complete when they added a daughter, Anabella. In 2006, they moved to Mahnomen where he has resided ever since. While living in Mahnomen, Ken worked in the maintenance department at the Mahnomen Health Center until his health declined.

In his spare time, he could be found playing pool, watching the Minnesota Vikings, playing his guitar, woodworking, golfing, and listening to various types of music. By nature, Ken was more reserved and quiet, but he also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. What he treasured most was spending time with the people he loved- his family.

Ken leaves behind his father, George (Janell Soyring) of Mahnomen; four daughters: Raya (Erik) Thomas of Cook, MN, Anabella Aspinwall, Cara Briggs, and Nina Briggs all of Mahnomen; a son, Craig Briggs also of Mahnomen; three grandchildren: Avia, Odin and Radian; two sisters, Donna Aspinwall of Minneapolis, MN, and Kelly (Josh) Torgerson of Rochester, MN; brothers: Scott Aspinwall of Minneapolis, Henry Aspinwall of Arizona and Mitchell (Sarah) Johnson of Maple Grove, MN; along with many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Terry Johnson and his grandparents.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mahnomen. A time of gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
