Kelly Thronson, 61, Ada, MN, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, MN, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, near Brainerd, MN.

Kelly Wayne Thronson was born October 12, 1954, in Ada, the son of Allen and Shirley (Gunderson) Thronson. He was baptized and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, in Ada. He attended school in Ada and graduated from Ada High School with the Class of 1973.

During high school, Kelly started working at Arne's Fairway Grocery Store. He would continue to work at the store for 46 years and for the next two owners (Ralph & Eric Johnson) and now is known as Ralph's Food Pride. Over the years, Kelly was involved in many aspects of the store, in addition to being the long standing produce manager. He mentored hundreds of high school age boys and girls who enjoyed his warm personality, his wit, and his strong work ethic. Kelly also worked for the Ada VFW Club and Tubby's Tavern, where he enjoyed his relationships with customers and co-workers.

Kelly shared a strong faith and served in numerous capacities at Grace Lutheran Church. He was proud of his years serving on the youth board and assisting the pastors with camping and national youth gathering events. He admired being a special uncle to his nieces and nephews and was proud to walk with them in their faith journey.

Kelly was active in many organizations in his community, including the Ada Jaycees, Ada Bowling Association, Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Dekko Community Center. He chaperoned many Ada- Borup school events and enjoyed traveling with the players, fans, and band as they advanced to section games and state tournaments in the Metrodome, Target Center, and Excel Center. He along with his brothers had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He always looked forward to deer hunting season and time spent with his hunting party.

Kelly is survived by his parents, Allen & Shirley, two brothers, Bruce of Lady Lake, FL, Bryan of Ada, two sisters, Lori Tuhy, of Thief River Falls, MN, and Dawn (Dale) Moore, of Detroit Lakes, MN, 7 nieces and nephews, Tony Kappes, DeAnn Hobbs, Jerod Kappes, Britney Haugh, Bryce Thronson, Amanda Moore, and Justin Moore, 7 great nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral: 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 6:30PM prayer service at the church.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
