Obituary

Kelly Bunker, age 58, of Naytahwaush, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Kelly Joseph Bunker, the son of Glenn and Phyllis Bunker, was born on February 15, 1959 in White Earth, MN. He grew up in the Naytahwaush community and attended Northrup-Emmerson school. Kelly later continued his education by studying welding at the Detroit Lakes Vocational College and business administration at Bemidji State University. In 1984, Kelly began a relationship with Millie Beaulieau and together they have shared their lives. They were blessed with seven children and over 30 years of wonderful memories. Kelly has spent most of his career working with the White Earth Nation and the Minnesota Chippewa tribe. He worked as a Liaison at the Shooting Star Casino in the 1990's and was currently a Job Coach for the White Earth Reservation Tribal Council. Several years ago, Kelly was instrumental in the founding of the White Earth College and served on the advisory board for a time. Although he had a distinguished work history, Kelly was an outdoorsman at heart. He liked to live off the land where he could hunt, fish, leech and rice. Kelly also spent many hours building fence with his cousin, Richard Bunker. He loved when he and his family could spend time in the forest and cut firewood. Kelly cherished his family, especially his precious grandchildren. He always made sure there were family get-togethers, memorial meals shared, and food on the grill. He also enjoyed playing on softball leagues, both in Roy Lake and at Pinehurst, and shared many good laughs with friends. His wonderful sense of humor, his knack for a good joke, and his contagious smile will be missed by many. Kelly is survived by his life partner, Millie Beaulieau; his mother, Phyllis Bunker; two sons, Glenn and Kelly Jr.; five daughters: Ashley, Cheyenne (Kevin), Kayla (Jesse), Rachel (Zach), and Jolie (Brent); one brother, Mark (Tammy) Bunker; four sisters: Theresa (Jim) Loud, Molly (Casimer) Bunker-Hintz, Roseanne Alvarado; and Marcie (Lee) Fairbanks; 15 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Dickey; one sister, Kathleen; and two grandchildren, Priscilla and Clawed. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex in Naytahwaush. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 12th beginning at 5:00pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm, and continue all night until the funeral on Thursday. Interment will be in Samuel Memorial Episcopal Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
