Katie (Brommenschenkel) Vilmo, 28, Ada, MN passed way Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND from injuries sustained in a farm accident.

Katherine Danielle was born December 1, 1989 in Fargo, ND to Daniel and Diane Brommenschenkel. She grew up on their family farm in rural Hendrum and was a 2008 graduate of Norman County West High School. Katie was baptized and confirmed at Holy Family Catholic Church in Halstad, MN.

In high school Katie was an outstanding student and athlete. She was involved in Volleyball, Basketball, Band, Choir, FFA and National Honor Society.  Katie loved animals and especially horses and cattle.  She was a member of 4-H where she was recognized for many achievements with her animals and participated in the Red River Valley Saddle Club where her horseback riding skills gained her many honors.

Katie attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls for two years after high school and finished her college education at NDSU where she received a bachelor's degree in general agriculture. While at NDSU, she enjoyed working with their Rodeo Team as just another way of showing her love for horses.

After college Katie worked at Rivers Edge Insurance in Halstad until she realized that her true passion was working on the farm. She enjoyed checking fields, working cattle and the overall grain and hay/straw operation that Brommenschenkel Farms had become.  She loved working with all the farm equipment and was one of few gals her age that would operate the farm semi-trucks like a pro.

On May 26, 2017 Katie married the love of her life, Mike Vilmo at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. They made their home in Ada and on August 3, 2018 the couple was blessed with their beautiful daughter, Kennedy Daniel.  Katie truly loved becoming a Mom and so looked forward to her growing up on the farm.  She enjoyed going to the lakes, pick-up sports games and loved taking pictures, especially of little Kennedy.

Katie is survived by her husband, Mike, 3-month-old daughter, Kennedy, her parents Daniel and Diane Brommenschenkel, Hendrum, MN, sisters; Karen Brommenschenkel, Hendrum, MN "other sister" Megan Lee, Perley, MN; special cousins, Verdis Barber and Lorenzo Peterson, Hendrum, MN.  Also survived by her Grandfather, Allen (Evelyn) Stene, Ada, MN, Father and Mother-In-Law, Dave and Karen Vilmo, Ada, MN, Brother-In-Law, Tom (Kari Strand) Vilmo, Ada, MN, Niece, Aylah Larson and Nephews, Christian and Taylor Vilmo and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding her in death were her Grandparents, Fritz and Veronica Brommenschenkel and Grandmother, Margret Stene.

Funeral: 2:30PM Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Friday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 6:30PM prayer service at the church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
