Kathryn "Tootsie" Hedlund, age 62, of Erskine, MN, died on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Kathryn Ann was born in Ramsey County to Alvin and Jacqueline (Casey) Scott on February 1, 1954, one of eight children. She grew up and attended school in Bejou, MN. Tootsie married Alan Hedlund and they made their home on a farm by McIntosh, MN. They were blessed with five children that kept her busy along with helping on their dairy farm and assisting with the cattle. After her divorce on April 17, 1984, the family moved to Neilsville, Oklee, Erskine, Crookston, McIntosh and finally returning back to Erskine where she felt was home and worked at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Tootsie was an excellent cook, working in Thief River Falls at the casino and B & B Café in McIntosh in the kitchen. She was known for her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and her potato salad. Tootsie loved to visit with family and friends and could spend hours on the phone. Tootsie was also very mechanical and enjoyed working on cars, if she thought she could fix it she would sure try. Due to failing health Tootsie took an early retirement. Kathryn was diagnosed with cancer in May but kept a positive attitude and appreciated having family by her side.   She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Kathryn is survived by one daughter, Wendy (Ryan) Eggl of Erskine; three sons: Tony of McIntosh, MN, Andy (Katie) of Fosston, MN and Brian of Winger, MN; two sisters, LeAnn (Mark) Halland and Beverly Mazzucco, both of Crookston, MN; four brothers: Leo of Bejou, MN, James (Debbie) of Frazee, MN, William (Debra) of St. Francis, MN, and Wayne Scott of Crookston; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Karen Quam; a brother, Dennis; a granddaughter, Kassandra Hedlund; and a nephew, Jamie Scott.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Community Center in Bejou, MN.
