Kathleen Joan Krogstad died peacefully in her own home at 87 blessed years on June 27th, 2024. Kathleen (Katy) was born to Johnny and Mary Gunufson on February 26, 1937. She was the oldest of six children. Katy graduated from Fertile High School in 1955 and from Saint Luke's Nursing School in 1958 as a Registered Nurse.

Soon after graduating from nursing school, Katy married the handsome guy down the road, Jimmie Arden Krogstad, on May 30, 1959. It was not long before four children filled the home.

Katy worked as a registered nurse and was very dedicated to her medical profession. Katy had a passion for helping professionally and personally. She loved gardening, her flowers, sewing, quilting, baking, camping, and visiting. Her greatest joys came from helping others through the WELCA missions at Faaberg Lutheran Church, her favorite charities, by spending time with neighbors, friends, and family.

Being humble in nature, Katy requested a condensed account of her life. Just know that she felt her mission was to love the Lord, cherish her family, and support and benefit her friends, community, and world. Her love, kind words, support and, spirit will be missed by all that knew her!

Katy was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Krogstad; parents, Johnny and Mary Gunufson; brother, Ervin; son-in-law, Jan McWilliam; many brothers and sisters in-law; and aunts and uncles.

Katy is survived by her children Wendy (Gary) Kircher, Brenda (Janel) Krogstad, Steve (Melissa) Krogstad, and Darla McWilliam. She is also survived by five grandchildren Natasha (Jason) Clemons, Cole (Steph) Kircher, Ana (Nora) Kircher, Kristina Krogstad, and Hunter Krogstad. She felt blessed to have James and Cora Kircher as her great-grandchildren. Katy is also survived by her siblings Gerald (Carolyn) Gunufson, Sharon Lenz, Em Messelt, and Wayne (Bertha) Gunufson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Krogstad; brother and sister-in-law Terry and Jean Krogstad; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN, at 10:00 am.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, July 1, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm and will continue one hour prior to the funeral.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Rindal, MN.
