June Arlene Dale, former owner and operator of Dale's Tanning Salon and Dale's Meat Processing Plant, Fertile, died July 28 at Essentia Health St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN.  She had lived for the past 5 years at Edgewood Senior Living in Baxter, MN.

She was born to Abe and Clara (Johnson) Olson on June 16, 1933, in rural Fertile.

She grew up in the Fertile area where she graduated from high school and began working at the Ada Hospital until she was united in marriage to Gilman Dale on September 6, 1953. They had one daughter, Debbie.

Survivors include daughter Debbie, and her husband Gary Tastad, Nisswa.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews as well as their children.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gilman; parents, Abe and Clara Olson; two sisters, Gladys (Zoellner) Overland and Violet (Steve) Doda; brothers, Floyd, Ray, Jay, Marvin and Vance.

She was a lifetime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile. She was baptized, confirmed, and married by Rev. G.W. Tolo. She taught first grade Sunday School for 23 years.

For 27 years, she adopted a stretch of highway on 32 south. For several years she served as an election judge. She was a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, a Golden Member of Sons of Norway since 1972, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for 21 years.

She will be remembered as someone who loved fun and laughter. She enjoyed celebrating events with friends and family, often dressing them in themed costumes. She delighted in performing singing telegrams, performing roasts, and participating in numerous parades and car shows with her '74 yellow bug and '66  T-bird.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN. She requested to serve only cupcakes, lemonade and coffee after the service. "I don't want the ladies aid or circle to have to prepare a big meal!" Visitation will take place one hour prior to service.

As you join us to celebrate June's life, we invite you to come dressed in whatever reminds you of June. Wear bright colors, a touch of sparkle, your favorite bling or even an appropriate costume! Let's fill the room with some tears, but mostly joy, laughter and stories that June shared so generously.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: Gabriel's Home, Brainerd MN who brought many animals to Edgewood. June loved petting and talking to all the various animals.
