Obituary

Juliette Urdahl, age 90, formerly of Twin Valley, died Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Cottages at Ecumen in Detroit Lakes, MN where she had lived for the past year. She was under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Juliette Aasgaard was born on July 3, 1925, to Lawrence and Hannah (Albertson) Aasgaard on a farm in Home Lake Township where she grew up and attended the Home Lake School. She was baptized and confirmed at the Wild Rice Lutheran Church. Juliette attended Twin Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1943. After graduation, she worked in Detroit Lakes for a gas company for about a year. On October 1, 1944, she was united in marriage to Monroe Urdahl at the Wild Rice Church. They lived on a dairy and grain farm near Twin Valley. Their first child, Dwayne, was born in 1945. Sadly, he passed away at seven months of age. Julie was born in 1948 and Debbie in 1950.

Juliette was an active farm wife who milked cows and drove tractors. She was a good cook, seamstress, quilter and she loved to crochet. She was involved in her church and taught Sunday School and worked with women's groups. Juliette loved music, singing, and square dancing. She had a strong faith in her Lord and always had the most beautiful smile on her face. In 1968, Juliette began working as a bookkeeper at the Flom Mutual Insurance Agency. She retired in 1991. Monroe and Juliette enjoyed camping and traveling and participating in the Thresher's Reunion at Rollag. Monroe died in 2002. In the fall of that year she moved to an apartment in Ulen. In 2014, she moved to an assisted living facility in Ulen and in January 2015, she moved to the Cottages at Ecumen in Detroit Lakes. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Juliette is survived by two daughters, Julianne (Walt) Aanenson of Detroit Lakes and Debra (Lyle) Haraldson of Wadena, six grandchildren: Jason, Kristina, Jamie, Bryan, Jill and Serena and nine great grandchildren: Alison, Tryg, Charlie, Chloe, Dane, Thor, Ayden, Reese and Cora and one sister-in-law: Jeanniane Aasgaard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Monroe, a son, Dwayne, a grandson, Jeremy, two brothers: Milton and Laurel and three sisters: Alice, Lorraine and Juanita.

Funeral Services were  held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Wild Rice Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 with a 4:30 p.m. Prayer Service in the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
