Julie Syverson, age 79, of Ulen, MN, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, in her home, under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Julie Ann Burnside was born on November 9, 1944, to John and Opal (Reideberger) Burnside in Cromwell Township, MN. She attended Hitterdal High School, graduating with the class of 1962. Julie was a devoted mother to her three sons, John, Roy, and Roger, and took pride in maintaining her home. On December 15, 1979, Julie married Arvin "Sonny" Syverson. This union brought an addition to their family with the arrival of Sonny Lee. In the early 1990s, Julie worked at the Viking Manor Nursing Home as a kitchen aide, a job she cherished, where she made many new friends. After Sonny's passing in 2014, Julie continued to live on the farm for a few years before moving into Ulen, where she resided until her passing.

Julie was known for her meticulous housekeeping, well-maintained flowerbeds, beautiful houseplants, and a perfectly mowed lawn. She grew bountiful gardens, which she used for canning, baking, and cooking, often sharing her treats with loved ones and making everyone's favorite foods for gatherings. Julie loved entertaining at her home, especially enjoying visits from her children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and even gave lessons when asked. When she wasn't entertaining, she found joy in relaxing at home and watching "NCIS" and "The Golden Girls" with her puppy, Patches.

Julie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amanda Kuehn for her extraordinary care and dedication over the past few months. Amanda's compassion and unwavering support brought great comfort to Julie and her family during this difficult time.

Julie is survived by her sons: John (Shannon) Chounard, Roy (Julie) Chounard, and Roger (Krista) Chounard; grandchildren: Micheal Chounard, Casey (Amanda) Chounard, Austin Chounard, Dylan Chounard, and Travis Syverson; Sonny's fiancée, Amanda Kuehn sister, Marlys Hogtevedt; brothers: Roger (Char) Burnside, Kenny (Diane) Burnside, and Andrew (Gary Gorecki) Burnside; sister-in-law, Donna Burnside; and many nieces and nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sonny; son, Sonny Lee Syverson; sister, Arlene Buretta; and brothers, Duane Burnside, Curt Burnside, Gary Burnside, and infant brother, Roger.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 2:00pm, with a visitation 1 hour before, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen. Interment will be at Bethlehem West Cemetery in Ulen.
