Julia Bueng, age 91, of Ulen, MN, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Julia Elenore (Bakken) Bueng was born on April 1, 1934, in Ulen to Christian and Sophie (Hollevoet) Bakken. Her father died when she was 6 months old and she was raised by her mother along with her three siblings on a farm outside of Ulen.

Julia was baptized, confirmed and attended a country school in Ulen.  She met Arnold "Bud" Bueng from Twin Valley, MN, and they were married October 28, 1950. They moved to Washington while Bud was in the Army during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge, the couple returned to the communities of Twin Valley, Ada, Dilworth and finally, Moorhead, MN, where they lived in Assisted Living. Julia's last journey was to Viking Manor in Ulen where she died with her children lovingly surrounding her.

Julia and Bud had three children: Junell (Jon Looker), Cheryl (Rex Hammarback) and Duan (partner Donna Roost); four grandchildren: Rick (Amy) Looker, Joby (Tammy) Looker, Christian Bueng and Cameron Bueng (partner Ashlyn Mattern); two great children, Josie and Jenna Looker (Joby's girls).

Julia was well known for her big smile and cheerful greeting to all she met. She was an outstanding cook, and her home was always spotless. Julia worked several jobs during her life including Englehart Drug and The Dairy Bar. She also owned a women's clothing store in Ada for a time. Julia was a member of the women's VFW, Ladies Auxiliary and did volunteer work at the hospitals. Seamstress work was a big part of her life for her family and friends and she loved to do their hair. Julia and Bud would travel to Mesa, AZ, for the winter where they spent 28 wonderful years playing cards and dancing.

Julia is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Dennis (Fran) Bueng, Harlan Bueng and Bruce Bueng; sisters-in-law: Barbara Bueng and Dolly (Terry) Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bud; parents, Christian and Sophie Bakken; all of her siblings: Joseph (Irene) Bakken, Hazel (Leonard) Anderson, Solveig (Gerhard) Berg; in-laws George and Anna Bueng; siblings-in-law: George Bueng Jr., Parnell Bueng, Garfield (Lily) Bueng, Clarice (Lawrence) Lene, Marlys (Robert) Voss, Curtis Bueng, Geraldine Bueng, Sylvia Bueng; and many beloved family members.

The family would like to give a big thank you to Viking Manor for the excellent care and love they gave to their mother during her two year stay.  They would also like to Thank HIA Hospice for their quality care and excellent guidance.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN.  A time of gathering will be one hour before the service.
