Obituary

Judy Christianson, 66, of Hendrum, MN, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, in her home surrounded by family, friends, and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Judy Maxine Paulsrud was born in Ada, MN, on April 7, 1947 to James and Viola Paulsrud, and grew up in Trail County (ND) on the home farm. She attended Herberg School Trail County through 8th grade and graduated from Halstad High School in 1965. She married Gene Christianson in 1965. They raised three sons on the family farm where she was always actively involved. Gardening was a passion that could be observed in her vegetable gardens as well as with her flowers. Judy enjoyed traveling with family and friends to destinations including Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Hawaii and the Caribbean. She practiced patience as she drove school bus for 31 years. She was the NCW Booster Club President during many championship seasons. She was legendary for her cooking and baking abilities, especially lefse and chocolate chip cookies. Judy loved working at the Halstad Elevator for 18 years. She was a member of the Red River Valley Homemakers and Halstad Lutheran Church. Judy will be remembered because of her energetic smile and outgoing personality in her community.

Judy in survived by sons, Scott (Ruth) Hawley, MN, Kelly (Sylvia) Roseau, MN, Ross (special friend Becky) Lake Park, MN, eight grandchildren, Jeff, Kaitlyn, Spencer, McKayla, Carter, Emily, Ryan, and Karina, her mother, Viola Paulsrud, Halstad, MN, sisters, Wanda (Rolly) Wall, Argusville, ND, Nancy Paulsrud, Fargo, ND, brother, Randi (Lorie) Paulsrud, Halstad, MN, sister-in-law, LuVerne Paulsrud, Hillsboro, ND, and many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Peggy Bullis and Curt Johannsen. She was preceded in death by her father James Paulsrud, and infant brother, her brother Eugene Paulsrud and her adored dog – Mitzi.

Funeral Service: 11:00 Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.

Visitation: 5-7pm Tuesday with a 7pm prayer service all at the church.

Burial: Halstad South Cemetery.
