Jude "Dewey" Walter Olson, 16, of Fertile, MN died suddenly on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

Jude was born on September 25, 2003 in Crookston, MN, the son of Aaron and Jill (Jensrud) Olson. Jude was dedicated to our Lord at 6 months old at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Fertile, MN, where he attended Sunday School, VBS, AWANA and Youth Group. Jude grew in his faith and with a deep love for Jesus, he shared it freely with all those who were blessed to know him. Jude attended Fertile-Beltrami School, Pre-K through 10 ^th grade. He was involved in Cub Scouts, choir, baseball, football and wrestling. As a kindergartener he had the opportunity to wrestle at the Rochester Convention Center and took 3 ^rd place in his weight class.

Jude's football career took an exciting turn in 10 ^th grade. He proudly wore the #65 as a Center/Defensive Tackle. The team went on to win 2 ^nd in Section 8A, where his dream to play at the Fargo Dome came true.

Another dream of Jude's was to make it to State Wrestling. He was hoping to accomplish this by the time he was a senior. He continued to improve during his sophomore year and ended the season by qualifying for the state wrestling tournament at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul where he wrestled as a heavyweight.

Jude's hobbies were listening to music, playing on his X-Box, cracking jokes, swimming, spending time with friends and 4-wheeling. It was never a dull moment when Jude was around. He had a quick wit that left you in stitches. He was a deep thinker that even left grownups pondering. He had a heart of gold, and an infectious smile that would light up a room and melt your heart. He was a gentle giant that gave teddy bear hugs.

Jude is survived by his parents, Aaron and Jill (Jensrud), Fertile, MN; brothers, Jasper (18), and Josiah (13), Fertile, MN; grandparents, Myles and Barbara (Swenby) Jensrud, Fertile, MN; grandmother, Diana Rahier, Fertile, MN; grandfather, Carroll Olson, Indiana; great grandmother, Caroline (Aagenes, Swenby) Erickson, Fertile, MN; aunt, Angela Swanson, Thief River Falls, MN; uncle, Chad Jensrud, Fertile, MN; cousin, Alexia Swanson, Thief River Falls, MN; great uncles, Kim Camp and Alan Olson and their extended families; and many great aunts and uncles and their families. Jude is preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, Walter and Justine Camp; great grandfather, Warren Swenby; step great grandfather, Gilman Erickson; great grandparents, Harvey and Donna Jensrud; great aunt, Karen Boe; cousin, Brodie Camp; and many others.

Funeral: 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Hope Evangelical Free Church (The service will be held outdoors on church grounds), Fertile, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All are encouraged to wear a mask.  Please bring lawn chairs.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM, with a 6:30 prayer service Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Hope Evangelical Free Church, Fertile.

Burial: Hope Evangelical Free Cemetery, Fertile.
